Every year for 3 days in the “Bluegrass Month” of May, the little
town of Voorthuizen in the Netherlands is awash in banjos, mandolins, guitars,
dobros, and the odd fiddle, as some 45 bluegrass bands from the USA and all
corners of Europe come together for the European World of Bluegrass Festival.
In its first 10 years, the EWOB Festival has hosted 377 concerts by 182 different
groups from 24 different countries: truly a World of Bluegrass! In 2003, the
EWOB Festival became the only European event ever to win the coveted International
Bluegrass Music Association (IBMA) Bluegrass Event of the Year Award.
