"The EWOB CDs are terrific. My last 2 shows have been dedicated to these CDs, and the response has been outstanding. I’ve had numerous people stop me on the street complimenting the shows and questioning me about the music. They were all amazed at the quality and diversity of bluegrass music in Europe."

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ABOUT EWOB

You'll find information here about many aspects of the European World of Bluegrass Festival. You are welcome to email us with other questions. Many of those will end up here too!

FAQs FOR MUSICIANS & BANDS can be found here with information about playing at the EWOB Festival, how the European Bluegrass Band competition works - and why. Some general information about these things is also included below.

Is anyone paid to run the European World of Bluegrass Festival?

No. EWOB is a way for all of us to give something back to the music we love by supporting the European bluegrass bands. We all work together as unpaid volunteers to make EWOB a special meeting ground for bluegrass lovers around the world. Some volunteers help for short shifts only at the festival itself. Some begin in September and help until the end of the festival. A few work all year 'round for EWOB, helping musicians with information and advice, and promoting European bluegrass.

Where can we stay during the EWOB Festival?

There are free camping facilities next door to our venue, ‘t Trefpunt, during the festival dates only. For info on hotels, B & B's, pensions, and other camping facilities in the region, see Festival Info > Lodging.

Who selects the European Bluegrass Band Award winners?

Only the MUSICIANS playing at the EWOB Festival can vote for the European Bluegrass Band Awards! We believe that the musicians should define European bluegrass for the rest of the world by choosing their own champion bands! You can read more info on this subject on the Musician/Band FAQ page.

Do the audience members get to vote for band awards too?

We have a special set of band awards that are voted by the EWOB Festival audience, the Audience Popularity Awards. Our audience really has fun voting for the bands they most enjoy onstage, and the winners of these awards are in demand for bookings at European bluegrass festivals and events.

Who makes money from the EWOB CDs?

No one, so far! EWOB CDs do not bring in financial profit, because most are given away to promote your music. Instead, they create a large financial loss for the record company every year. Production of the EWOB CDs requires a great investment of time and money from Strictly Country Records that the label has never made back in sales. Most of the EWOB CDs are sent as free promotional CDs to music press and radio programs, and this becomes a difficult financial burden for the record label.

We feel it is most important that all the musicians who perform on the EWOB CDs receive a copy of the CDs they play on. We need sponsors for the EWOB CD series, to make this possible.
